Foreign Language Studies (Issue No. 44, 2026)
Language, Arts, Gender, and Cultural Practices in Asian Globality
This special issue explores how language, artistic practice, and gendered cultural expressions shape Asia’s relational globality — a form of global connection grounded in multilingual communication, creative collaboration, and coexistence in diversity. Moving beyond geopolitical or economic narratives, we highlight Asia as a region that hosts, negotiates, and generates global cultural flows through translation, performance, and community-based cultural participation.
Possible themes include (but are not limited to):
• multilingualism, translation, and linguistic identity in cultural and artistic contexts
• gendered performances and creative labor in globalizing Asia
• diaspora voices, and cultural negotiation
• reimagining identity, heritage, and community through cultural practices
• comparative and interdisciplinary approaches linking Asian regions
• Submissions in Chinese or English are welcome, and research across language studies, gender studies, cultural studies, performance studies, and area studies is encouraged.
